This time, we set politics aside for a moment, to take a look into Heritage University. An education platform, created by a single player very recently, but has caught the attention of the public of Redmont very quickly, something that one can notice because of the amount of staff hired, but the donations raised as well.
Heritage University, also referred to as HU, has its own website, created by its owner, Culls. Even though it’s not fully complete, and still has room for improvement, this is another sign that he and his staff team have an appetite to provide education, with quality and professionalism, to the people of Redmont. You don’t see an organization in DemocracyCraft have its own website often, do you?
Personally, I love exploring new, interesting ideas and concepts by the people of DC. That’s why I wanted to get Culls himself to tell me about his and the university’s provisions, programs, and goals.
CastoloGR: What was your initial inspiration to create this University, and how does it fit the roleplay and economy of DC?
“Well, when I was first creating this university, I wanted to try something new, kinda experiment, but after a while, I loved working in education (in DC), and to this day I continue to run it! Heritage University on the whole part fits this roleplay by offering a realistic university climate for students to learn, without the difficulty of what real universities give.”

CastoloGR: What courses, degrees, and/or programs does HU offer, and how do they work in practive in-game?
“We currently offer Economics, Art, Health, Trade Jobs, and Law! We offer many smaller programs for advanced, PhD, and more! Not only that, but we also provide clubs for all HU Students to be welcome at! These all are related to jobs in DemocracyCraft, and make many students happy and educated.”
— Culls
CastoloGR: How do you imagine HU to contribute to the community of DC?
“We imagine that Heritage University gives a lot of knowledge and programs for students to learn and get skills for them to live in DC. These skills are, like I said before, Law, Arts, Health, Trade Jobs, and Economics.”
— Culls
CastoloGR: What were the biggest challenges you faced while establishing the University? Did you overcome them? If so, how?
“Our biggest challenges were funding. We couldn’t find a lot of people willing to invest in a university idea, they all thought it was pointless. But, we grew and grew, and we finally had some donators who had donated around 30k to the university. Really, we didn’t have any trouble, unless you count the grade system once crashing, not allowing onedrive to load, but eventually it turned back on.”
— Culls
CastoloGR: Where do you see HU headed in the future? Are there any plans for expansion, more partnerships, or new opportunities for its students?
“I see HU growing into an even bigger school, and really seeing every citizen properly educated to standards. We have many projects not disclosed yet, but one of them is, we plan on a new campus! We want all our staff to get offices and cubicals, and for students to get classrooms, and for other things soon to be released. Furthermore, we will soon actually be making newer clubs, like possibly a hockey club and maybe a theater club!”
— Culls
Culls seems to have a vision about the future of his organization, based on what he told us. Additionally, he seems to be extremely dedicated to this experiment of his, which has turned into a full-time organization. An institution like HU fits into the community of Redmont, and based on what he said, it offers a more realistic academic experience to the players of DemocracyCraft.
