It’s been more than 24 hours since the 33rd Congressional Election results were published, with surprises and upsets for many parties and candidates. WPR lost seats, and TFC went from zero to two – but, I’m here to talk about one party that had high hopes, but ended up not getting any representatives in the Congress offices. Which party? The Left Opposition.
Founded by Jesseya, tLO’s views are far-left libertarianism and town autonomy, based on the post from the mentioned player in #parties. tLO believes that the government should take as small of a role as possible in the everyday lives of the players of Redmont, with the values of equality and solidarity.
Even though tLO’s candidates (Jesseya, NovaKerbal, and AdmiralMusket44) did a lot of campaigning for September’s Congressional Elections, it was to no avail. NovaKerbal and AdmiralMusket44, the two running for HoR, received a total of 7 first preference votes (4 and 3 accordingly), and in the Senate elections, Jesseya received 13 FPVs. That placed her in the 5th place in first preference votes ranking, only 5 behind Inknet, who was elected with 18.
For this reason, we decided to reach out to the Jesseya herself, and ask why tLO didn’t see any of its candidates elected to Congress.
CastoloGR: For players unfamiliar with your ideology, how would you explain Left-Libertarianism in DC?
“Left Libertarianism shares the empathy and compassion for new and struggling players of leftist politics, along with the idea that ‘people should be able to do whatever the hell they want as long as it doesnt hurt others’ from libertarian politics”
— Jesseya
CastoloGR: In the most recent Congress elections, we saw zero tLO candidates were elected for HoR. Why do you think not many players voted for tLO?
“Our messaging was too bombastic and balls to the wall batshit insane. Legalising WMDs and bulldozing Revcatraz -while awesome ideas- didnt resonate with voters. Also our party platfrom this month is a mess which needs to be scrapped, thrown away and set on fire.”
— Jesseya
CastoloGR: How do you plan to use the next two months to approach more voters, for the next elections?
“We are working really hard to unfuck our party and adress our biggest problem: lack of direction. We are a group of hypermotivated commie chaosgremlins with a billion ideas but not the mandate of the general public. We need to pick the ideas that people actually like and focus on that.”
— Jesseya
CastoloGR: What is your plan to convince players that don’t feel directly affected by politics (but are affected) that “workers’ rights” and “town autonomy” matters to them?
“Redmont is a hypercapitalist hellscape, capitalism is a law of nature in this country. In such a system , where the workers are robbed of the true value of their labour as permanently as the sky will stay blue, workers need representation and to be organised against the capitalist class. The same goes with towns. Local autonomy preserves as much freedom as possible for people in their communities to do whatever the hell they want.”
— Jesseya
CastoloGR: What is, in your opinion, the biggest obstacle before tLO sees electoral success?
“Our lack of direction and rough party platform. Simply put, we messed up as a party this election. We did our best but now know decidedly what does not work. We need to learn and to adapt or be forced to forever stay in the margins of Redmont politics”
— Jesseya
Additionally, researching about tLO and asking some of its members, we got our hands on some rumors about members within the party that have allegedly discussed forming an armed paramilitary militia wing. This army would commit acts of violence against particular targets, including congresswoman Vernicia. Of course, learning about this, we had to ask Jesseya herself for a comment and thoughts.
CastoloGR: Thank you for your answers. I have one more question. Asking around members of tLO to obtain information to write this article, one told me that members within tLO “have discussed forming an armed paramilitary militia wing, that would commit acts of violence against particular targets, including congresswoman Vernicia”. Do you confirm that?
“I have to come clean. I denied knowing of the existence of the plan to establish an armed wing. It was a plan in the early phases of tLO, supported by the Trolligarch wave new players. I did know of it, but just kind of… ignored it. We prepared a statement after a loooot of talking with the people responsible.”
— Jesseya
Just before publishing this article, Jesseya and tLO released a statement within the party, to address the allegations about the paramilitary wing. We, as The Reveille Times, gained exclusive access to it, as we are the first non-tLO associated entity to get its hands on it.
“ANNOUNCEMENT OVER ALLEGATIONS OF AN ARMED WING OF TLO
Some new players in our party were very eager to start a revolutionary wing, this revolutionary wing never existed in any official capacity beyond speculation. It was widely supported by our party, as we remain committed to revolutionary change, but not to the unhinged extent it snowballed into during the subsequent discussions. The people who engaged in these discussions came to our party with extremely radical ideas that do not translate appropriately to DC.
We do not in any way seek to harm Vernicia, her associates or Plura. On the contrary, we are extremely excited to see Plura’s new party (The Labour Party of Redmont) take shape. The left could not ask for a finer comrade.
We apologize for any hurt this discussion might have caused, and we denounce this initiative from rogue members of our party.“
