WPR Shifts Leadership and Introduces Plot Hoarding Reform Agenda

The WPR’s latest convention introduced bold reforms, including a 20-plot ownership limit to curb monopolies—highlighting cases like Coptop’s 45-plot empire. Also WPR promised to implement higher exponential plot taxes. Leadership changes and election reforms also signal a major shift.

As is customary each month, the Worker’s Party of Redmont (WPR) held its party convention, during which members can propose changes to the party platform and run for the Central Committee, the principal authority in charge of the party.

After securing an initial victory with the Worker’s Rights Act, the WPR proceeded to reform its “no further taxes” policy, replacing it with a promise to implement higher exponential taxes on plots to “make excessive ownership of property unprofitable, encouraging those who own too much land to sell it, creating a more equitable distribution” as outlined in the WPR March Platform. The party also added a provision to lower the plot limit to 20 c-plots per person, pledging land reform to combat the monopolization of land in the hands of a few. Even though having more than 20 c-plots is rare, it is not unheard of — with the wealthiest landowner, Coptop, holding as many as 45 plots.

Other changes include:

  • A promise to implement Single Transferable Vote (STV) for Senate elections.
  • A promise to require the press agencies to list authors and biases (with exceptions for satire).
  • A pledge to revitalize Willow with the help of the Department of Construction and Transport.
  • A proposal to implement a party registry, which will give parties legal personhood.
  • A goal to make the elections of presiding officers of both chambers public.

Following the adoption of these changes to the party platform, a referendum on amendments to the party charter and the election of Central Committee members took place. All of the previous members ran for re-election, however, only representatives Kaiserin and MissAndrist secured their seats, whereas previous members aether, norselyqueer and jorinton lost. The newly elected members are TrueDarklander, gribble19 and Sleepi_sloth.

Following the election the party founder and long-time chair MissAndrist stepped down, with Kaiserin assuming the position of Chair of the Central Committee and MissAndrist serving as her Vice-Chair.

The Reveille Times will provide further updates on other party conventions in the future.
