Democracy isn’t always easy.
On the night of Tuesday, January 7, as polls were scheduled to open around 8 PM EST, citizens filled the lobby of the Department of State (DOS) building, waiting to cast their ballots. The proposed time came and went, and for roughly an hour and a half, citizens were left in the dark, not knowing when the polls would open.
At about 9:20 PM EST, the polls opened, for the first of many times that night. Voters quickly noticed that one candidate, MissAndrist of the Workers’ Party of Redmont (WPR), wasn’t listed at all on the House ballots. So, at around 9:30, the DOS closed and reopened the House polls, restarting the count. Then, voters noticed that another candidate, Nacholebraa, an independent, was listed twice. The DOS once again closed the polls, this time making a physical wall between the DOS lobby and the polling room, locking a handful of voters inside.
Additionally, during all of the aforementioned events, a handful of gunshots were fired in the building, and a few scuffles broke out around the polls’ closure.
At time of writing (9:50 PM EST), the situation has not changed. It is not clear when House polls will be reopened, or if they will be accurate.
Edit @ 9:57 PM: The door to the polling room has been opened, but the House polls are not yet opened.
Edit @ 10:00 PM: The polling room has been closed and all voters have been ejected from the room.
Edit @ 10:14 PM: Room is open, but polls are not.
